10 Sec 3 EOY

the final product- sorry about the folded edge, I stapled all my prep work together!

personally I liked how the watercolour face for this prep sketch turned out better than the final, but c'est la vie!

For our sec 3 end-of-year we had to come up with an original artwork based on a few themes. I chose the theme 'after dark', and decided to portray the idea of second chances, that a good person may be crying for help from within a person whom society deems to be evil. I decided to use charcoal for a dramatic, smudged effect but also watercolour for the girl's face as I wanted a softer look there, nothing that comes across overly strong. At the last minute I decided to add bubbles around the cracked edges but that part wasn't very properly planned/researched into... I had no idea how to draw bubbles!

My work was also partially inspired by Picasso's Weeping Woman, which we studied in Adv Literature last year as well.

  1. A rather successful piece of work... Your 5 prep pieces also looks interesting at a glance because of the way you had arrnaged all the different images and text! Keep it up and apply this to your prep boards for your coursework as well...
